FundAction Annual Assembly 2021

Taking place online in thematic sessions of 90 minutes during four Thursdays in a row: 18th and 25th November; 2nd and 9th December, from 4.30 to 6 pm CET.

Why

In 2020, FundAction celebrated an online Annual Assembly for the first time due to the lockdown situation in Europe. Even if circumstances have drastically changed since then, a meaningful in-person 3-day meeting with the membership is still a challenge.

FundAction’s Facilitation Group proposes a bridging space for 2021: an experimental Assembly touching on the most pressing topics related to FundAction in short sessions.

 

The compromise is to meet again for a meaningful, re-connecting, in-person Assembly in 2022. In the meantime, join us online to celebrate 5 years of FundAction with the community and to conspire together for the future!

Program Day 1: Evaluation

Thursday, November 18th, 4:30-6:00 pm CET on Zoom

FundAction turns 5 in 2021. As the experimental initiative it is, it proved necessary to evaluate its first 5 years of existence. In 5 years we have created an organizational framework, developed a connected community and funded more than 100 grants with over 560.000€. It was time for an external evaluation to help us grasp the obstacles, but also the yet-to explore potentials.

M2 consultants did an in-depth evaluation over the last quarter. In this session, they will present the results and tell us how it all looks from the other side of the mirror.

Program Day 2: Membership

Thursday, November 25th, 4:30-6:00 pm CET on Zoom

What are the most urgent decisions we need to address regarding FundAction’s membership? How to propose new ways to invite people over and what are the challenges to onboard them and taking care of each other? Are there dormant members that will be willing to leave some space for other activists to join?

Join us to discuss and vote for community and membership. A one-pager explaining the current situation will be posted in Decidim a week ahead of the session.

Program Day 3: Process & grantmaking

Thursday, December 2nd, 4:30-6:00 pm CET on Zoom

Resist, Rethink, Renew and Thematic grants. These are the four types of grants that FundAction runs. Are they still valid? Does it make sense to keep running them on a yearly basis? Which parts of the granting process need adaptations now? What new types of grants could we introduce?

Program Day 4: Legal and fiscal transition

Thursday, December 9th, 4:30-6:00 pm CET on Zoom

For the past 5 years, FundAction has been fiscally hosted by the EDGE Alliance, which means they ran our bank account and did a lot of necessary administrative work for FundAction. However, as our community, budget and overall needs are growing and becoming more demanding year by year, it is now necessary to find a long-term solution. In this session, the Transition Working Group will present possible solutions for FundAction’s legal and fiscal transition.
